AHA! Night: The Life and Legacy of Arthur Moniz

November 10, 2022 • 6 PM • Free • FHC (38 Bethel Street, NB)

Learn about the life and work late maritime artist Arthur Moniz in this illustrated talk presented by Cheryl Moniz and Gary Golas. The talk will focus on Moniz’s depictions of his favorite theme: fishing boats and the commercial fishing industry.

Arthur Moniz was born in 1945 in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He attended school in New Bedford and then went on to Massachusetts College of Art and the Museum School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. His paintings depict a wide range of interests geographically and topically, depicting images of boats, cranberry bogs, harbors, and more.

Moniz’s work combines graphite drawing with transparent watercolor washes over the highly detailed renderings creating images which are soft and subtle yet show remarkable details and textures.
