Help us celebrate our 10th anniversary during the June AHA! Night!

  2026 marks our 10th anniversary! It started as a dream to create a year-round, brick-and-mortar space that preserves and presents the story of New Bedford’s commercial fishing industry past and present. Since opening our doors in 2016, the Center has blossomed into a nationally-recognized cultural institution that reaches thousands of visitors with our diverse range of programs, exhibitions, and events.  Now it’s time to celebrate: we will be kicking off a year of celebration on Thursday, June 11, during the June AHA! Night. Join us from 5:00pm until 8:00pm for a fun night filled with live music from Sharks Come Cruisin, fisherpoetry courtesy of Moe Bowstern, cake, and more!

In FHC’s parking lot: 5:30pm – 6:00pm: Live music featuring Sharks Come Cruisin 6:00pm – 6:30pm: Remarks by Laura Orleans; cake cutting ceremony 6:30pm – 7:00pm: Fisherpoetry performed by Moe Bowstern 7:00pm – 7:30pm: Live music featuring Sharks Come Cruisin Inside FHC (happening throughout the night): Explore our two onsite exhibits, More Than A Job and In History’s Wake free of charge; Discover the Center’s online archive; Learn about volunteer and membership opportunities;  Engage with various community partners and organizations; Enjoy a 10% store-wide discount at FHC’s gift shop Indulge in a free FHC birthday cupcake (supply limited!)   We couldn’t have reached this major milestone without your help!
