Ceremonies & Celebrations explores the history of the New Bedford Scallop Festival, Working Waterfront Festival, Blessing of the Fleet, and Fishermen’s Memorial Service. More than just an exploration of waterfront celebrations, past and present, this exhibit is a reflection on the importance of community in the commercial fishing industry. Herstory is an intergenerational oral history project pairing students in high school and college with older women who have ties to New Bedford’s fishing community. These stories are shared in a digital exhibit, co-curated by the students. View the Herstory digital exhibit here: https://exhibits.fishingheritagecenter.org/exhibits/herstory/
