School of Fish Digital Cookbook: A Collection of Recipes Featuring Local, Abundant Seafood from the Coast of Massachusetts
From July 2022-June 2023, New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center worked with faculty and students from the culinary arts programs at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational-Technical High School and Bristol Community College to educate faculty and students about local and abundant seafood. Through classroom activities, film screenings, and field trips students were exposed to many lesser known species and seafood preparation techniques. In addition, the Center presented a series of cooking classes focused on sustainable seafood and taught by area chefs. These recipes were created by participating students, Culinary Arts instructors, and other local chefs. This project was supported by a Seafood Marketing Grant from the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries.
